Plant your trees – and then plant a sign

What we know for sure is that, if you ask them, about eight out of every 10 Oregonians are aware that state law requires landowners to reforest after timber harvest. That’s comforting, because urbanites today have little connection with the owner practices of large or small private forestlands.

The problem is, when they see a clearcut, most of these same people forget about the law.

However, if during reforestation you plant a sign telling these folks that the unit has been reforested, it’s a constant reminder of how quickly trees grow in western Oregon.

Each year OFRI makes “PLANTED” signs available to any landowner. Hardware is included; all you need to do is buy two standard metal poles and post it.

If you’re planting trees in an area along public roads where people regularly travel, please order a sign today that says “PLANTED 2015.”

In fact, even if you planted trees 3, 5, 10, 20 or even 30 years ago, you can order a sign for those years, too. The sign is free, and so is the shipping. All you have to do is PLANT IT along with your trees.

For the forest,
