The just-published third edition of Oregon Forest Facts and Figures packs an abundance of forest information into a pocket-size package. The booklet, published every two years by the Oregon Forest Resources Institute, has been fully updated and revised for 2013, and was released in early February.

OFRI's new TV spots focus on replanting - 02/29/2012
Two new educational television spots produced by the Oregon Forest Resources Institute illustrate Oregon’s forest protection laws and their emphasis on replanting. The spots highlight the law’s requirement that landowners must replant after a forest harvest, which helps protect streams and fish and wildlife habitat while also maintaining the state’s timber resources.

Oregon's Forest Protection Laws: An Illustrated Manual – Second Edition, updates, revises and expands this popular guide, first published by OFRI in 2002. Created in cooperation with Oregon State University’s College of Forestry and Associated Oregon Loggers, the 185-page manual illustrates and simplifies the Oregon Forest Practices Act and its rules.
New OFRI volume offers tips to enhance wildlife habitat - 07/22/2011
A surge of research in recent years has revealed much about the habitat needs of forest wildlife, and now that research is available to forest landowners in a publication from the Oregon Forest Resources Institute. The new book offers a synthesis of recent science findings, as well as case studies highlighting success stories of Oregon’s forest landowners. Using forestry techniques, landowners can shape, enhance and even create wildlife habitats for birds, mammals and amphibians, while managing lands for timber production.

Volunteer mentors from the forest sector community are needed to guide students in grades 5 through 12 at this year’s Pacific Logging Congress 6th “Live In The Woods Show.” The show, which occurs every fourth year, takes place this year on Sept. 15 and 16 at the Longview Timberlands near Clatskanie, Ore., approximately one hour’s drive west of Portland on Highway 30.
