You won’t want to miss this great opportunity to see a unique, 730 acre property and get to visit with Ted and Mary Brown and their family. The Browns acquired their first forest property in the 1950’s and have been actively managing it ever since.
Some of the highlights include:
• An inventory system that has been in place for years and works
• Successful ways for converting old fields to thriving tree plantations
• Managing an uneven-aged stand for old forest characteristics
• A western bbq beef lunch by Union County’s 4-H Youth Exchange
• Making rustic doors and other products as a “value added” business
• Long-term Ponderosa pine commercial thinning trials with OSU Extension
• Managing dwarf mistletoe
• A small sawmill demonstration
